St Dennis Youth Band

st dennis youth band

St Dennis Youth Band were formed by the late E J Williams in 1962. In 1968 they attended the National Finals in London at the Chelsea Town Hall and came away with second place with the test piece "Three Songs Without Words" by Eric Ball. Success was to follow in 1972 and 1973 when they won the National Finals playing "A Dales Suite" by Arther Butterworth and the following year "Partita" by Edward Gregson.

In recent years they have had much success at local contests such as Truro and Bugle Contests and are also gaining recognition at National level, competing at the National Youth Championships in Manchester.

Recently the band have competed at the SWBBA Contest at Torquay were they came First, then in March 2007 they became "Cornish Youth Band Champions 2007" at the CBBC contest at Truro. The Band received a Gold award at the National Youth Championships of Great Britain and also won at the West of England Bandsmen's Festival in June 2007.
