Success at Pontins
St Dennis Band competed at the Pontins 2008 Brass Band Championships in Prestatyn. The Band performed "The Wayfarer" by Eric Ball which was the set test piece for the 18 competing bands. Adjudicators Malcolm Brownbill and Colin Hardy told the audience that they had awarded the top prizes to the bands that took risks to make their performances stand out in the section.
The band presented a solid performance which was awarded 2nd place by the adjudicators. This was the last 1st section contest that the band would compete in prior to their promotion in January 2009.
The Band would like to thank Steve Bazeley who agreed to fill the Solo Trombone position for the contest.
Congratulations to winners Ashton-under-Lyne and also to friendly regional rivals the Chalford Band on their 3rd place.
The Band thanked Brian Minear for his hard work in the weeks leading up to the contest.
