St Austell Music Festival Success
The Brass section of St Austell Music Festival was held on Thursday 29th November at St John's Methodist Church. The adjudicator for this year was Christopher Wiltshire. Three members from St Dennis Band entered various classes throughout the evening and all received praise from the adjudicator for their performances.
In the Secondary School Brass Solo class Brendan Caddy was awarded 1st place for his performance of 'Bilitis'.
In the Open Solo class the adjudicator commented that he had been impressed by the high level of performances. However he felt that there were two competitors that particularly stood out for him. Those being Stacie Hill performing 'Share my Yoke' and Andrew Julian performing 'Remember me'. This resulted in Andrew winning the section with 90 marks with Stacie gaining second place with 89 marks.
Andrew Julian and Stacie Hill then paired to perform 'Two of the Tops' in the open duet class. They were awarded 1st place with a creditable 90 marks.
The Mark Westaway Cup for the highest marks in Solo Brass was awarded to Andrew Julian.
Thanks to Stephen Watts and Ann Fleet for accompanying the performances.
