St Dennis part of National and European Youth Brass

Zoe Hancock (Flugel Horn) will be representing the band at the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain this week at the NYBB Easter Course. Zoe joined the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain in 2006. At her 3rd course she has been selected to take the Principal flugel seat. This is a great achievement and she will no doubt represent St Dennis Band extremely well. The end of course concert is on Saturday 7th April at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and will be directed by Bramwell Tovey.

Andrew Julian (Soprano Cornet) and Jo Rowe (Solo Cornet) have been invited to represent England at the European Brass Band Championships which are to be held in Birmingham. Both members will be performing with the European Youth Brass Band which consists of approximately 40 musicians from around Europe. The band will rehearse for one week and perform at various occasions including the Gala concert and opening ceremony of the European Championships. The Band will be led by Ian Porthouse. Both members are looking forward to the event at the end of this month.

Jo, Zoe and Andrew are also alongside 20 other members of St Dennis Band who are involved with the Cornwall Youth Brass Band. The Band are holding is easter course this coming weekend where they will be joined by Elgar Howarth and Guest Soprano Soloist Yvette Bonner. The end of course concert is on Monday 9th April at St Michael's Church Newquay. Ticket information is available here.

Added 18/04/2007 - Following the announcement of Andrew and Jo being invited to play for the EYBB, Matthew Brewer also received an invitation to play for the band. We now have 3 of our members representing England at the European Championships next month.
