West of England Regional Championships

Last saturday, the senior band competed at the West of England Regional contest held at Torquay. This was the first contest of 2007 for the band as well as their debut appearance in the First Section. The test piece was Eric Ball's 'The Wayfarer'. Adjudicators of the section were David Hirst and Barry Thompson. The band were well prepared for the contest with many weeks of practice leading up to the contest. This showed when they were awarded 4th place for their performance. Special thanks went to Brian Minear for rehearsing the band to the consistent high standard and leading another performance of which the band could be proud of.

This was a great result for the band as they continue to progress each year. Congratulations must go to Hyde and Woodfalls Concert Brass for qualifying for the National finals and also to local friends at Helston who gained 3rd place in the section.
