- Peter Bazeley (E-Flat Bass) Peter started playing on Eb Bass in 1967 at St Dennis Junior Band and had many contest successes including becoming National Youth Champions two years in succession. Peter progressed into the senior band playing his first contest at The Royal Albert Hall in the National Championships of Great Britain in 1971. The test piece was Le Roi Dys which had a Eb Bass solo along with Euphonium played at that time by the great John Dunstan. Enjoyed many years of contesting and concerts at St Dennis. In 1981 Peter was a founder member of Kernow Brass and enjoyed many years of great banding fun including a tour in Germany. He returned to St Dennis in 1999 when the band had gone through a tough time and started again in the 4th section with mainly youngsters and a few older helpers. In 2001 he became Chairman of the band and has been extremely proud of everyone in the organisation for the amazing journey back to the Championship section over the last 9 years. |

- Ady Davis (E-Flat Bass) Ady started in the School Band at Beanfield in Corby after hearing "Back Home" in 1970 so getting out of recorder lessons, competing against some of todays St Dennis players at Chelsea Town Halls in the then Youth Section National Finals. After leaving school, he played for Kettering Town, Corby Silver, one of the Hofmeister German bands, Bilton Silver before moving to Cornwall in 1991. A spell with Kernow Brass and then Bodmin Town got him to the Albert Hall at last at 39! Spells with Flowers and Mount Charles have brought me finally to St Dennis where it would be nice to have a little bit more success before I retire! Top banding moments? "You cant beat winning the Area Contest but 4th at the English Nationals with Mount Charles was good, as was the 2010 Pontins 2nd placing with St. Dennis if only for the looks of amazement on some of our players faces!" |
